Interior ReDesign in Palm Beach County-Why Not Get Your New House in Order BEFORE You Move In!

Interior ReDesign in Palm Beach County-Why Not Get Your New House in Order BEFORE You Move In!

You know how it is... the day finally comes when you can move into your new house.... boxes are unpacked... pictures hung... it's been a long procedure from the day you decide to sell your house to the day you move into your new home.

moving in

But as so often happens life gets in the way of what we want to do.  Children have to go to school; you have to return to work and for many families once you move in that's it.  Nothing else gets done until it's time to move again.

Does this sound familiar:

"Ok, where are we going to put the television?"
"The sofa didn't look that big in the store!"
" I'm not sure what to do with that space.'

Room Service! Home Staging has often been asked to consult with homeowners when they want to put the WOW back into their home.  But more and more homeowners are asking their Home Staging Professional to assist them BEFORE they move in.

I recently consulted with a client who has purchased a home and has plans to make this a comfortable place to entertain his friends and family.  Before heading out to buy new furniture, he wanted our advice as to what was needed that would suit his lifestyle and space.  And, there were treasured pieces from his current home that he wanted to incorporate.

Family area-Before

We can help you with choosing paint colors; suggesting what updates you can make that will add greater value to your new home; placement of furniture; and give you a game plan for purchasing any additional furnishings or furniture.

If you're about to move into your new home talk to your local Professional Home Stager
about how we can help you put the "WOW" into your new home!

Excellent post Kathy!  So many times when moving into a new place life get's in the way of setting up the new home.  The intentions may be there, but life life happens.  I cannot imagine a smarter move than to have you set it up to flow & show it's best for the family right from day one!

Good morning, Kathy.....if I ever build another home or buy a new condo, I'm going to take many pages from your book....many.

Kathy - sound like they are in the best of hands - and while they can focus on what they need to do - I'm sure you will give them exactly what they want to come home to:a comfortable beautiful place to entertain his friends and family.

Rob- we all get busy and are usually pooped by the time we've unpacked and hung the pictures.

Laura- this gives the new owner a "blueprint" for what they want to do down the road.

Barbara- feel free to take the whole "book'... I have a feeling you're very oganized and everything would be in place in no time.

Kristine- I've been lucky again to have great clients and when you do , you especially want to make their home their retreat!

Kathy, good point! Staging isn't only needed when selling a home. Good Job!

Michael- Staging or styling your home before you move in can give you more time to enjoy your new home.

That is a great idea. Then when the movers arrive, they put everything in the right spot!

Congrats on the FEATURE!!  You know as well as I do that once they get in the house and real life takes over, chances are not good that projects like painting or changing flooring will actually get done.  To have the luxury of preparing the house before moving in is such a gift.  They won't get that opportunity to have an open space to work in ever again!  Having a professional guide them in purchases and furniture placement is also a gift!

Your staging services could make a great closing gift!

Kathy,

From someone renovating while living in the house, I BEG others to heed your advice!  Frankly, it stinks to live in a dust bowl with drop cloths and items piled up in other rooms.

Kathy, congrats on feature! Love this post.

Kathy, congrats on another feature.  Hiring a stager to help get the furniture into the right places from the beginning can take a lot of stress out of a move and help get everyone settled in quicker, too.

Great idea, practical because it's preventative.

Kathy, congrats on the feature! Good luck with your client. I love it when a seller has me back to help with their new house.

Kathy...consultations for "pre" move-in's are fun.  It's a real testament to your talents, and such a practical application for the average homeowner that may be on a limited budget at this early stage in the game.

Posted by David Ames - San Francisco (Zephyr Real Estate, San Francisco) about 1 year ago

Kathy, what a great idea, and it sounds like a fun job to do as well. There would be a lot less stress involved than a stage-to-sell.

Posted by Malcolm Johnston, Trenton Real Estate (Century 21 Lanthorn Real Estate LTD., Trenton, Ontario) about 1 year ago

Richie- I think many people are still warming up to the idea of staging/styling a home to sell so to use a stager/stylist when you move into a home is yet another different concept.

Lou- thanks!  would be nice if others thought so as well.

Melissa- correct, and not buying furniture that really isn't size appropriate for the rooms either!

Sharon- thank you.  We can spend a few hours and give them a plan.  They don't have to tackle it all at once but when their time and budget allow.

Adam- so true- I bet there's a stager in your area that would be able to provide exactly that!

Irene- Oh how I remember coming home to dust and fumes from staining the paneling in one of our rooms.  Oh, yes and I remember the huge rug we had rolled in the middle of our kitchen.

Anna- thank you!!!

Janet- and as Adam mentioned, it would make a great closing gift.

Ilyce- I can remember staging a home for sale and when the owners saw it they said "Why didn't we do that before!"

Janice- I can't wait to see the project as it goes along.

David- many people not only have a limited budget but also really do have good decorating skills... they just need a little help.  I love having to work with what people have.

Malcolm- it is different... since they'll be living in the home we don't have to worry about trying to please a multitude of people!

Super advise to design before moving in. Sure beats moving in then re-moving later on.

Gretchen- Don't you just love it when you see a home that looks just like they've only been in it a short while and you find out they've been there for years!
